CHOICES HAVE CONSEQUENCES |
| Between | Continue or change—using Willpower. | |
|---|---|---|
| To continue, the Will trusts instinct, because learned processes are automatic, fast, and efficient. | ||
| To change, If instinct doesn't work, the Willpower can direct Mind to modify or change a habit. After the Mind decides, the Willpower chooses to make the change or not. Is the power of the Will enough? | ||
| Choices | Extending the Will's power. | |
| What is the concern? A key question. (To explore, click on Key Reasons, above.) Extension or projection? A key choice. Either extend a quality by sharing it, or project that quality elsewhere, not owning or claiming responsibility for it. | Limits of Awareness | Awareness has three modes: conscious awareness,
subconscious awareness, and superconscious awareness. Conscious awareness is of the body. Subconscious awareness depends on the attitude created by nature and nurture. Superconscious awareness of existence beyond understanding. |
|
| While awareness of existence is beyond understanding, the body and mind are influenced by all awarenesses. But the body and mind have attitudinal, physical, and mental limits. These limits affect choice. Concepts can be created far beyond the limits of the body, but execution of the concepts experience the body's limits. | ||
| The conscious and subconscious often differ. For example, a food is consciously desired but denied for health reasons. Consciously, a person knows that a substance may be bad to ingest, but subconscious desire sometimes overrides the conscious and ingests it anyway. This is a common behavior. The superconscious, whose unlimited vision knows what's correct, is often overriden by the limited vision of the conscious and subconscious. This is also commmon behavior. | ||
| Seeking a better way, the Willpower uses the problem-solving skill of Mind. Ironically, the Mind's decisions still depend on what the Willpower decides! Wise choice is a long, slow, sometimes painful, process. To be effective, consequences felt in the body are necessary, such as angst and suffering, happiness and joy. | ||
